Nothing downloads on its own

Scribe works out of the box with Apple's speech recognition and Apple Intelligence. Three optional models extend it, each downloaded only when you press its button, and each deletable from the same place.

Before you install

Is Scribe really free?

Yes. No subscription, no credits, no paid tier. Everything runs on your device, so there is no server cost to pass on.

Does my voice go to a server?

No. Speech recognition and rewriting run on your Mac or iPhone. The only network use is model downloads you start and Mac update checks you turn on.

Where do I get the Mac app?

From this page, as a free DMG, once Scribe is out. Drag Scribe to Applications, open it, grant Accessibility and Microphone access, then pick your talk shortcut.

How do Mac updates work?

Choose Check for Updates… in the app menu. Automatic checks are off by default; turn them on in Settings › General. When on, Scribe asks scribe.nanthai.tech once a day and sends nothing else.

Why does Scribe open briefly when I tap Talk on iPhone?

iOS keyboards can't record audio, so the app starts the microphone and you swipe back. After that, the mic stays ready for a few minutes and Talk is instant.
